NFL 2012 Draft Preview – The Top Prospects

The 2012 NFL draft is in April and already the sports betting sites are compiling lists of the top prospects for 2012. While other sites are concerning themselves with the March Madness odds, football fans are wondering what the Indianapolis Colts will do with the first overall pick and what some of the top prospects will be in the upcoming draft.

Andrew Luck – QB – Stanford

There is little doubt that Andrew Luck will be the next quarterback of the Indianapolis Colts and that the Peyton Manning era is over in Indy. What has some fans getting upset is that Colts’ owner Jim Irsay is prolonging the process and releasing statements that he thinks the Colts can have Manning and Luck. Even Irsay knows that is not going to happen and he would be doing the Colts a huge public relations favor if he just cut Manning and let him catch on to another team.

Robert Griffin III – QB – Baylor

The only reason that RG3 will have to wait until the number four pick to go in the draft is because the St. Louis Cardinals will not use the number two pick on a quarterback and the Vikings are probably not going to use the number three pick to replace Christian Ponder. That leaves the Cleveland Browns at number four to take RG3 to replace Colt McCoy. Once Griffin gets drafted, he can send a big “thank you” card to Cam Newton because it was Newton who opened the door for running quarterbacks to get picked high in the draft.

Matt Kalil – OT – USC

It would be a bet online scam to say that Matt Kalil is flying under the radar in the 2012 draft. There is a long list of teams that want Kalil and he will either go to the Rams at the number two pick or the Vikings at the number three pick. The Rams just need to decide if its top priority is an offensive lineman or a wide receiver.
