NFL Betting: Betting on the Super Bowl

The online sportsbook websites are starting to see a lot of action for the upcoming Super Bowl and that presents an opportunity for everyone. The great thing about Superbowl betting is that people who have never placed a bet before often give it a try for Super Bowl Sunday. To help those people along who have never placed a bet before, here is some basic information on how to bet on the Super Bowl.

When you look at a betting page for the Super Bowl, you will notice that one team has a positive number next to it and the other team has a negative number. You will also notice that the number, with the exception of the positive and negative, is the same. This is what is referred to as the betting line on that game. The team with the negative number is the favorite and is giving up that many points to the other team. For example, if the Patriots are playing the Giants and the Patriots have a line of -7, then the betting websites have the game a 7-0 in favor of the Giants before the ball is even kicked off.

In order to be considered the winner against the line, the Patriots would have to score at least eight more points than the Giants. If the Patriots win by seven points, then the bet is a push and no one wins. If the Patriots win by six points or less, then you lose the bet if you placed your wager on the Patriots. However, if you bet on the Giants, then you won the game. It can seem like a betonline scam to people who are new to the betting game, but it can make watching the Super Bowl much more interesting when you have a point spread to consider.
