AFC West Preview

NFL betting lines handicappers are chomping at the bit for an AFC West preview, after an amazing season during the 2010 – 11 campaigns. Last year, the Kansas City Chiefs came out of seemingly nowhere to win the division, while the Oakland Raiders made giant leaps, and the San Diego Chargers finally choked before the playoffs. Meanwhile, the Denver Broncos were one of the most disappointing teams for sports betting enthusiasts as they finished a disappointing four and 12. Here is a preview of the AFC West.

After a pretty successful draft, in which the Kansas City Chiefs finally grabbed a wide receiver to compliment Dwayne Bowe, the Chiefs appear poised to take a run at another divisional crown. Around this time a year ago, nobody thought Matt Cassel could become a great quarterback, as he had been Tom Brady’s understudy and signed to a contract not many could live up. However, having said that, Matt Cassel was far and away the most important player to the Chiefs success a year ago, as he was one of the top five passers in the game. If the Chiefs can add some depth players when the NFL offseason resumes, they could make a huge run in the playoffs this coming season.

The Oakland Raiders finished a respectable eight and eight last season. What was most impressive about the campaign was the fact that six of their eight wins came against AFC West divisional foes. On the contrary, they went two and eight against the rest of the league last year. With the departure of Nnamdi Asomugha, the Raiders defense will be in tough all season long.

San Diego and Denver we lumped together, since both face the same problem, nobody to pass too. With rumors in San Diego that Vincent Jackson may leave, the Chargers will be in tough to obtain another divisional crown. Denver meanwhile, is hoping that the Tim Tebow experiment lasts all season, as the former Florida Gator standout is expected to be the starting pivot this year.
